Kallie’s Story
Meet Kallie Petrie
I have been at NorCo Crossfit for 3 years and 2 months. Wow! Has it been that long already? It feels like yesterday I was doing my on ramp with Lauren.
When my husband and I made the move up to Northern Colorado, I had just graduated college, and finished up my basketball and volleyball career that past March. I felt like a zombie going to the local gym in Windsor. I had no motivation, no one to workout with and could never reach the intensity I was used to. I craved the team atmosphere that I had in college. I quit working out completely for a few months because it wasn’t enjoyable to me anymore.
I got introduced to the idea of crossfit and NorCo from my neighbor Christina Stewart one day while walking our dogs. I’m not going to lie, I was very hesitant. Finally I decided to try it out. Once I walked into the gym, I knew I was hooked. The vibe this gym gave off was so positive and welcoming, I joined right then and there. I now go to the gym everyday that it is open, sometimes twice a day.
I will usually do the daily WODs and then do strength, oly and skill work during my second visit. This gym I feel has changed my life for the better. It truly is my home away from home. I have made some of my closest friends while at the gym. The coaching there is truly one of a kind. I have had my fair share of coaches throughout my life, and I can say Sam is one of the best coaches I have ever had. I go to him not only for advice for crossfit related things, but also for advice in life. Sam, along with the other coaches, have helped me achieve what I consider being in the best shape of my life.
This year, my goal is to finally get a ring muscle up. I have been working on them for 2 and a half years now, it’s about time I get one!!
